A Prayer for the Grieving
By Emily Rose Massey

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about individuals who are asleep, that you might not grieve as other folks do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose once more, even so, via Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, ESV).

A number of several years back, I viewed my partner, his parents, and my sister-in-law experience the deepest pain possible – soreness so challenging that it bodily harm. The night time my husband, Paul, obtained the information that his brother was in a tragic drowning accident, I held him as we equally cried, huddled on the sofa. He held grabbing his chest and saying, “I skip him so a great deal. This hurts so terrible.” Each day soon after that moment, we continued to set a person foot in entrance of the other as we walked by the suffering with Jesus, trusting that He would keep on to recover our broken hearts and believing we will see our cherished brother (who was also a believer) again in heaven someday.

Not only did I perception the nearness of God after we misplaced our pricey brother, but the scriptures flooded my coronary heart with hope. This passage from 1 Thessalonians reminded me to preserve my mind set on eternity:

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you could not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we think that Jesus died and rose once again, even so, through Jesus, God will provide with him those who have fallen asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, ESV).

What a lovely reminder to all who may well be encountering agony and grief suitable now! We may sense agony and sorrow, but that does not necessarily mean we have no hope! Our everyday living is only a vapor (James 4:14) this area is not our home. We have a guarantee that a single day each individual tear will be wiped absent, and suffering will be no a lot more (Revelation 21:4).

The Bible is whole of reality about eternity and knowledge on how we ought to are living our life while we are still here on earth. Jesus doesn’t promise that we will escape agony in this article on earth, but He does promise that He will be with us often (Matthew 28:20).

In your suffering and sorrow, cry to the Lord and stroll with the Holy Spirit. Permit Him to carry you true comfort and peace while guiding you into truth about the Kingdom to appear. Soon and incredibly shortly, we will be with Him permanently wherever His fantastic like will be all we at any time knowledge. Until then, retain drawing close to to Him and He will faithfully draw near to you, just as His Phrase promises us.

Let’s pray:

Heavenly Father,
As the waves of grief come crashing in on me, be sure to remind my heart of the hope that I have in Christ. Holy Spirit, assistance me to correct my gaze upon heaven, where the assure of eternal existence awaits me. Give me a voice to share my story of Your goodness and faithfulness for the duration of this tough time of grief and discomfort. Thank You for bringing a peace that passes all knowledge and therapeutic broken hearts in Your timing.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
